Phrenik Logo Design

PhreniK is a local melodic death metal band that I am a part of. We have been writing music and getting things ready to record when I realized, we don’t even have a logo to our name. After watching some tutorials online about best practices and building logos I decided to give it a shot.

It all started with simple Blackletter. From here it was a matter of warping the text, adding in drips and “web” connections between the letters then doing a interesting style with two outlines, giving the final touch I was looking for. This style of logo is influenced by bands such as Behemoth and Death, as well as other bands in the genre.

Using this logo I went ahead and created a “Mock up” cover art for a fictitious ablum. Comping photos with an underlying texture achieved the perfect look for the logo to rest on, relying on the high contrast of solid white of the logo on the black and white background.
