Water Conservation Composition

The water conservation project was created while taking an environmental science class. The class spurred me to create a visual aid for water conservation as around this time California was going through a very long drought. The objective of the piece was to highlight the dry and desolate nature of the drought and to accompany it with a simple quote that would be less formal and imply the need to save water rather than outright say “Save More Water”.

The finished product was a composition completed in Adobe Photoshop, mixing multiple layers of dirt and the cracked salt flats. After completing the background I created a simple water drop black solid, and used a simple blend mode set to overlay. After getting the total composition together I placed the text in and adjusted the kerning to properly conform to the container that I created.
